Pulp hook

The pulp hook is used by loggers when piling four foot pulpwood sticks. Originally there were two kinds; a "scratch hook" that was shaped to catch in the side of a stick and a "pulp hook" shaped to catch in the end of a stick.

Most paper companies are moving away from short wood; mechanization makes it easier and more efficient to handle longer lengths.
