Early chain saw chain

The first chain saws tried to mimic the design of hand crosscut saws. Said to cut fairly well, they took hours -- and skill -- to sharpen. Note that there are both left and right cutters here, as well as rakers that run down the middle of the cut and chisel out the chips. From the Leonard's Mills Forest and Logging Museum.
