Pulaski and Fire Can |
Forest fires are easy to fight when small, terribly difficult when large. Tools must be available to quickly attack when a fire breaks out. Some areas of the country have ample water and portable pumps can be quickly set up. Other areas may have no water in some seasons, and fire control consists of hacking in fire lines with Pulaski tools (an ax with an adze on one side) and shovels. Water for mopping-up after and cooling hot spots may have to be packed in.
Men with Indian pumps can go where vehicles can't.
