This is a professional quality saw -- but it's just a baby! It's only 43cc and 2.8 hp -- but it only weighs 10 pounds. Saws of this size are sometimes used in TSI work (Timber Stand Improvement -- such as precommercial thinning, where the trees are too small to sell for anything). But often the clearing saw is more efficient in this work.
Of course, Dolmar also makes much larger saws. They are a German company that has been making saws for over 70 years. They claim to be the first with a gas-powered saw, and well may be, although there is a 1924 forestry text book that mentions powered cutting devices using an endless chain -- but doesn't give details.
