The black hucklebery is a shub that grows prolifically near the coastal areasa and less so inland. I'm hopeful that I have the ID right on this one. Peck lists 10 members of the Vaccinium family, so it hard to be sure. This specimem was near the Oregon Beach at Florence in the front yard of a house located on the edge of the Siuslaw national Forest at low elevation. The berries are small--even smaller than a Red huckleberry, but tasty.
