|Oregon Tea Tree|
This plant also has a common name of "Oregon Tea Tree". I might add a word of caution and an invitation for comment however. There are several species of Ceanothus including Buckbrush, Deer brush and snow brush as well as this one. I've debated for two years between the name I have assigned and the Snowbrush or Ceanothus Velutinus.
The plants photographed here were found on a dry rocky bank (actually on the edge of rock quarry) at about 600 feet elevation in central Columbia County. It clearly grows as a multi stem shrub. The flower groups are somewhat irregular but point up. Note that the first photo shows a red stem.
