The Bitter Cherry is a common western Oregon understory plant. It ranges in size from a shrub to a small tree. The leave are oval but widest toward the tip with fine serrations. Flowers have numerous long stamens.
Sometimes just called the 'wild cherry', as an understory plant in Douglas Fir, it will grow tall and spindly and often collapses in a wet snow. While regarded as a weed tree in forest plantations it does provide some bio diversity and the cherries are bird food.
