This is a common plant on a moist forest floor in moderate shade. The large leaves will turn the ground green. The flowers are on a separate stem from the leaves and sprout up from the rhizome. First Nation tribes dried these in bunches and hung them around for mosquito and fly repellant.

Not surprisingly it smells of vanilla.
