Scotch Broom

Cytisus scoparius

scotch broom

A European shrub cultivated for ornamental purposes. It is widely regarded as an invasive species in the United States. The flowers are bright yellow. It has seed pods similar to a pea. Indeed it is a member of the Fabaceae or Leguminosae (pea) family with the latter being the somewhat dated (but still recognized) family name for the Pea family.

For those that don't understand 'newspeak', an 'invasive species' is a fifty cent term for an 'imported weed'.
