| Self Load Clam Bunk | Rear View |
One of the alternatives to a log skidder is a Clambunk skidder. It is sort of half way in between a forwarder and a skidder. One end of the logs are lifted and set into the 'clam bunk' which can then be closed much like an upside down grapple. Unlike a forwarder, the clambunk can pull trees in tree length pieces. The disadvantage of this machine is that it has to have a separate loader, and is considerably more expensive than a swinging grapple skidder.
