Vesper, Oregon

Vesper Church
Church at Vesper

Vesper was named by William Johnston for the evening star Venus. The post office was established Jan 30, 1879 with Johnston as the first postmaster. The post office was on the county line, sometimes listed as a Columbia County post office and other times as a Clatsop County post office, depending upon who was post master. It was closed Nov 30, 1919. Vesper is west of Birkenfeld near the Columbia/Clatsop County line on State Highway 202.

This quaint church is found along OR 202 in the area. However, its usage, if any, is not obvious to a passerby.
